Über Gottfried Benn

Ein Kaleidoskop

Gottfried Benn continues to inspire and polarise today with his expressionist texts, poetry and provocative prose. One of the most important German writers of the 20th century is viewed as if through a kaleidoscope in the contributions to this anthology: new insights into his biography and the influences of his writing reveal the most diverse facets of the life and work of the poet, essayist and doctor.

The authors examine the intricate circumstances of Benn’s only television interview just as carefully as his fascination with beer and thirst or the poet’s afterlife in collections and in the people who read him. Thanks to intensive detailed research, they also provide interesting information on Gottfried Benn’s attitude towards National Socialism and the Jews in his circle.
